ADA Acoustics & Media Consultants GmbH

After the defeat of the German division, and upon meeting the objective requirements, the engineering firm ADA Acoustic Design Ahnert was initially founded with two colleagues. From day one, the software program EASE, which was at that time still DOS-based, was available. As a result, the feasibility of room- and electro-acoustic designs could be efficiently verified. Large projects during the early 90s, such as the planning of a new sound reinforcement system for the German Opera (Deutsche Oper) in Berlin, supported the start-up phase.

A similar experience was gathered during the reconstruction of the Plenary Assembly of the Parliament in Ankara, where in 1996, for the first time, a fingerprint system for the identification of the Members of Parliament was introduced, which is still in operation in its original form till today. The number of awarded contracts in the country and abroad was then increasing as well as the number of employees. In 2010, the activities profile of the sole-property company ADA Acoustic Design Ahnert was transferred to ADA Acoustics & Media Consultants GmbH. Major tasks are still ahead of our team, such as the extensive Al Maktoum International Airport, which is currently under construction and is intended in its first construction phase to serve around 120 million passengers per year.

Project description:
The acoustically praised house of Hans Scharoun, who also built the Philharmonie in Berlin, was opened in 1973 and  because of its uniqueness is under monument protection. This theater was refurbished strictly in accordance with the requirements of monument protection to preserve or restore the original condition of the house.

The task was to rebuild the original technology of 1973 and to set up modern sound reinforcement, video and stage management technology that meets the current needs of a full-pitch theater.
Furthermore, a voice alarm system, an assistive listening system and a broadband antenna system were realized.
In this context, the "invisibility" of modern technology, which was required by the monument protection, had a very high priority.

The theater has several venues to accommodate different events. The main stage with the big hall, the backstage (the audience is seated on a grandstand on the main stage) and 7 different performance possibilities in the foyer. All these venues were integrated into the overall system.

Furthermore, the room acoustics of the house was to be preserved, but with the reduction ov the resulting noise level in the hall by building services.
